More than 30,000 years ago, a curious human discovered a plant that was so strong yet gentle inside that, over time, it could be used—among other things—to make fabric.
Around that time, the story of the Rewana brand began to be written…
For thousands of years, this plant, called hemp, was a faithful companion to humans. Every spring, a new one could be planted, growing up to 5 meters tall by autumn.
It enriched the soil.
It served to create everything that was needed.
The strongest ropes, the most durable baskets, sails, clothing that warmed in winter and cooled in summer, healing ointments, drinks, food—and even sacks for storing them.
So why did something so useful almost disappear overnight?
When the powerful don’t know how to compete, the easier path is to ban the competition. In order for synthetic materials to prevail, hemp had to be completely removed from the market.
Out of sight, out of mind—and over time, people forgot something that once couldn’t be missing from a single household.
We are happy that since 2015, originally under the brand HOJA hemp, which in 2022 grew into the new brand Rewana, we have been bringing you the option to choose again. It is up to you whether you decide to give hemp a place back in your home.
All of our products are made in Slovakia—in our own workshop, in private tailoring studios, and in a Slovak protected workshop by skilled seamstresses with whom we collaborate.
Every single piece is made to fully utilize the positive properties of the material. Years of experience and precision craftsmanship are woven into each and every product.
Some products are originals made in only one piece and will never be repeated. You can own a unique creation that cannot be found anywhere else. Products may occasionally feature subtle decorative details.
